BMW X1 Review
Overall
After the partial success of BMW Z4 roadster, luxury car manufacturer BMW plans to launch its cost efficient and much stylish SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle) model BMW X1in the Indian auto market. BMW has launched BMW X1 with comparatively lower price tag to capture more market share and to make its position stronger in luxury car market. The powerful SUV from BMW is priced in the range of Rs 22 to 30 lacs. The company unveiled this stylish SUV at Delhi Auto Expo on 23rd December 2010.BMW X1 is launched in 3 major variants that are available with six speed automatic gearbox. The three variants of the car are equipped with a petrol engine and 2 diesel powered engine. The affordable SUV, BMW X1 is launched in India as a CKD (Completely Knocked Down) unit and will be manufactured at the company’s Chennai based manufacturing plant.BMW X1 is available in three exciting variants and is powered by both petrol and diesel engine. BMW X1 is loaded with turbocharger, variable intake geometry and common-rail fuel injection in 1955 cc four-cylinder diesel engine that offers maximum output of 177 Bhp and torque of 350 Nm at 1750- 3000 rpm whereas the petrol engine comes with 1995 cc four-cylinder engine that churns out 150 BHP of maximum power at pm and 200 Nm of maximum torque at 3600 rpm. BMW X1 is mated with six speed automatic transmission gearbox which will supply the power effectively and make the ride more smooth.
BMW X1 is a compact yet stylish SUV model which is loaded with a lot of newer generation features. BMW X1 is already available at overseas market and has received huge popularity there because of its styling features, performance, advanced features which are available at comparatively low price tag. The India bound BMW X1 is loaded with high styled exterior features like light alloy wheels, body coloured door handles, chrome finished exhaust pipe, heated and automatic adjustable ORVMs (Outside Rear View Mirrors), Panorama Glass etc. The interior of BMW X1 is also much stylish with its ambient lighting, front armrest with sliding adjustment with storage compartment, velour floor mats, etc.
BMW X1 is also armoured with lots of advanced active safety features like ABS (Antilock Braking System), dual front airbags and side ITS head airbags for front and rear both, central locking, crash sensor, front and rear fog lamps, halogen headlamps, front and rear seat belts with pretensioner and belt force limiter, side impact protection and many more features.

| BMW X1 sDrive 20d Sportline | It features a 4-cylinder, 1995 cc TwinPower engine. The vehicle offers a top speed of 205 kmph and a mileage of 17 kmpl. The transmission consists of an 8-speed automatic Steptronic transmission which shifts from individual gears, differing in small rpms. It also features a vehicle immobiliser, ABS and better seating arrangement through exclusive sporting seats, chrome details and double round headlamps. It offers good pick up and has a decent boot space and multiple seat angular adjustments. The car also comes with a Runflat tyre indicator and an open design. The antenna is designed via the shark fin shape making it aerodynamically efficient.

| BMW X1 sDrive 20d xLine | The X1 sDrive xLine has a 1995 cc TwinPower Turbo diesel engine with 4 cylinders. It comes with an 8-speed automatic Steptronic transmission and the engine comes with turbochargers which help the engine offer a massive 380Nm of torque at 1750rpm to 2750rpm. The vehicle transcends to a maximum speed of 205 kmph. The tachometer consists of dual meters and an LED screen which details the fuel status, distance during drive. Paddle shifters are included along with the auto transmission gearbox. It also includes brake energy regeneration which stores kinetic energy during braking and uses the same for the electronic power steering. |

It is powered by 2.0L, 1995cc, turbocharged diesel engine that delivers 177bhp of maximum power at 4000rpm with 350Nm of maximum torque at 1750~3000rpm. Acceleration from standstill to 100kmph comes in just 8.3 seconds with the ability to achieve the top speed 205kmph. |
